What's new

Shared Messaging Numbers

Multiple extensions can now send and receive messages using the same business number and see each other's replies.

Highlights

  • Select Allowed extensions for each number in Message Settings.
  • Share conversations across the selected extensions in the same account.
  • Track personal unread status and show unread totals in Messages, navigation, and the browser tab.
  • Review the selected extension's unread state when using View As.
  • Use Delete conversation for me to remove existing history from your own view while other users retain theirs.
  • Manage allowed extensions through individual and bulk number settings.

Ringotel Message Synchronization

Shared-number messaging now keeps eligible Ringotel users informed of incoming messages and outgoing replies.

Highlights

  • Synchronize messages and MMS attachments with the participating Ringotel users.
  • Include the sender's identity with shared-number replies.
  • Reuse known Ringotel conversations, including recoverable legacy sessions.
  • Track delivery to each participant and avoid repeating successfully synchronized attachments during retries.
  • Process Ringotel synchronization separately so slow Ringotel requests do not hold up carrier sending.

Group MMS Through Inteliquent

Added group conversations through the Inteliquent/Sinch messaging integration.

Highlights

  • Start a conversation with multiple external recipients.
  • Keep replies together in a group thread.
  • View the sending number and group participants.
  • Open existing contacts or add contacts from the participant list.

Outgoing Photo Conversion and Compression

Added Account Settings → Messaging controls for preparing photo attachments before carrier delivery.

Highlights

  • Convert HEIC/HEIF, WebP, AVIF, and TIFF photos to JPEG.
  • Control photo conversion and file-size reduction separately.
  • Reduce supported photos to fit a shared 650 KB attachment budget per message when compression is enabled.
  • Include other attachments when calculating the available photo budget.
  • Reuse already prepared photos when retrying a message.

Conversion alone preserves image dimensions and does not enforce the attachment-size budget. GIFs and other unprocessed attachments remain unchanged.

Improvements and fixes

  • Improved incoming and outgoing MMS handling, including messages containing both text and attachments.
  • Improved attachment rendering and support for selecting phone photos in the browser.
  • Improved conversation updates when switching extensions or receiving new messages.
  • Added account-scoped checks for shared-number membership and message-settings changes.
  • Preserved existing message history and legacy Ringotel delivery information during the shared-messaging migration.
